The installation process starts by prepping the windows and moving things out of the way and thoroughly cleaning the windows. You then cut the film to the size of the window and spray the window down with water. After that you put the window film on the window and again, cut to size to make sure everything is aligned and fits right. You then squeegee all of the water out and allow up to 60 days for the film to fully dry. Iconic Group recommends having a professional company do the installation to ensure the best results. The drying process can sometimes take up to 60 days. If your newly installed window film shows evidence of water bubbles, don’t panic, that is very normal and actually part of the drying process. The moisture gets trapped under the film and will evaporate as the film cures to the window over the drying period time. It is important to not touch or press on these bubbles as it will prolong the drying process and damage the film. Yes! When it comes to security window film you can choose from a clear window film, a reflective window film and a neutral window film. With the optically clear window film you won’t even know it’s there. The reflective window film will look like a one way mirror and the neutral window film will have a tint to it. All of the options will reduce 99% of UVA and UVB rays.
You can double layer window security film, but Iconic Group does not recommend it. Adding two layers on top of each other won’t increase security, the warranty will be voided and the film won’t look very good. If you are looking for added protection, you can install security window film on both the interior and exterior. Speak with a representative to learn more!
